Updated Lists of Lifters

Both the Niagara Open and the Toronto Super Show have updated their lists of lifters.  The Super Show still has spots in bench only but entries must be postmarked no later than May 11.  The Niagara Open is filling up quickly with only 11 spots left.  All of our meets have been quickly reaching capacity.  If you plan to compete, get your entries in quickly.  The Niagara Open always reaches capacity and has a waiting list. For those people on the Toronto waiting list, you may want to consider either the Niagara Open or the South Huron Open in July.

OPA Newsletter - looking for a new editor

The OPA is looking for an individual to take over production and editing our official newsletter.  Although we are now issuing the newsletter predominantly in electronic format, it will continue to be produced.  However, for the newsletter to continue, we would like one of our members to take the lead in it's production.  This is a great opportunity for someone that either enjoys editing and layout or is looking for experience with this type of work.

Please contact us at J_watkin@cogeco.ca.

2013 Toronto Super Show

We have 6 weeks until the Toronto Super Show and are looking for volunteers to assist on the platform and the head table.  Lifting will be Saturday and Sunday at the Toronto Convention Centre.  Volunteers will receive passes to the show and parking passes. As this is an OPA event not run by a specific club, we're hoping to get help from as many of our members as we can.  This is an opportunity to promote our sport in an amazing venue.

Email Julie at j_watkin©cogeco.ca if you can help out.

2013 Toronto Pro Super Show List of Lifters

For those planning to lift at the Toronto Pro Super Show, you can see the current list of lifters here. The three lift is full but if you send in your registration, we will create a waiting list in case anyone drops out.  Due to the overwhelming demand, we have expanded our original cap of 36 lifters for the three lift.  We were able to do this by moving three weight classes, the 105, 120 and 120+ to Sunday.  If you are in these weight classes, you will be contacted by the meet director.  On Sunday the bench only will proceed first and then be followed by the three lift. Unfortunately, we cannot expand beyond this.  Because this is not a typical venue we are restricted by time and our meet must fall within the Supershow times. There are still spots available for bench only.

Provincial and National Qualifying Standards

As many of you may already be aware, the women's national qualifying standards and the bench only qualifying standards were changed at this year's AGM.  As is typical, Ontario has chosen to mirror the national standards as our provincial qualifying stardards.  To see all our qualfying standards, see here.
