The OPA is committed to providing opportunity to its membership, with the changes to the
competitive schedule the OPA realizes that some athletes would be left without a clear pathway
to attend National events. As such the OPA exec has voted to implement one time
amendments to our current qualifying requirements.

The requirements as seen below are for those OPA members wishing to attend 2024 CPU
Nationals and 2025 Nationals.

2024 NATIONALS
SEPTEMBER 9-14, 2024, SUMMERSIDE, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND (Meet link)

The requirements of OPA athletes to attend 2024 nationals are as follows:
For athletes that have already attended a national championship:

• Must have current qualifying total (achieved within 24 months of event)
• Must have competed or fulfilled volunteer requirements at EITHER 2023 OR 2024
  provincial championships.

For athletes that have not attended a national championship:

• Must have current qualifying total (achieved within 24 months of event)
• Must have competed or fulfilled volunteer requirements at EITHER 2023 OR 2024
  provincial championships.
• Must have competed at a 2023 OR 2024 regional championship (CPU requirement)

2025 NATIONALS
FEBRURARY 23 – MARCH 2, 2025, RE,GINA, SASKATCHEWAN (Meet details)

The requirements of OPA athletes to attend 2025 nationals are as follows:

For athletes that have already attended a national championship

• Must have the updated qualifying total (achieved within 24 months of event)
• Must have competed at a minimum of 3 IPF/CPU sanctioned events (any meet within CPU and its provincial affiliates and/or IPF sanctioned meets)

For athletes that have not attended a national championship

• Must have current qualifying total (achieved within 24 months of event)
• Must have competed at a minimum of 3 IPF/CPU sanctioned events (any meet within CPU and its provincial affiliates and/or IPF sanctioned meets)
• Having competed at CPU regionals is not a requirement to attend 2025 nationals and
  has been waived for 2025 only (see below)

CPU statement in regards to attending 2025 National championships:
“As the regional meets for 2024 have already been held, there will not be regionals in the
fall 2024. To this end, the CPU is granting a one-time allowance or byer on this requirement in
the Nationals pathway for Nationals 2025 only, to those who meet the following criteria:

• have not yet competed at Nationals
• have achieved a 2025 National Qualifying Standard (please note that these are
  revised for 2025)
• have competed in at least two competitions
• AND have satisfied the requirements of their Provincial Association”
