Kayla Casey

Hi! I’m Kayla!

I’m a primary care paramedic for two different services north of the GTA, as well as a home gym athlete and dog lover. After a decade of being a locally competitive CrossFit athlete and coach, I made the full transition to powerlifting in 2020 and haven’t looked back. Since falling in love with the sport, I have been looking for avenues to become more involved within our community. I am confident that being a part of the OPA committee will allow me the opportunity to serve our executive and members to the fullest! While I train at home in my beloved garage gym, I have been an athlete with Barrie Barbell Club for almost 2 years. I’ve had the honour of representing the OPA and the CPU multiple times, including NAPF (22/23), Commonwealths (22), and Bench Worlds (24). I look forward to what this next season brings!

Favourite Lift: Bench. More specifically, equipped bench. I love the added element of surprise… I mean, technicality! F

Favourite Powerlifting Experience: Hands down Commonwealths 2022 in Auckland, New Zealand. There was something so magical about that meet… from the auditorium, to the lighting, the logo & medals, and the location itself. 100% and unforgettable experience.

Favourite Quote: “This is it. Don’t get scared now.” —Kevin McAllister
